What is this blog about?
We all have dreams and we want to achieve them. We are thirsty to find ways to achieve them. Life happens, and sometimes gets in the way. We either push our dreams way back in that corner of our mind where it's hard to reach, or we just give up on them. During my experience as a woman, leader, mom, wife, and certified coach, I have collected many skills and much knowledge while I led, mentored, and coached people. I have had to analyze situations, make sense of them, troubleshoot, problem-solve, test my solutions, and tweak them when they didn't work, over and over again. If only I'd had a personalized playbook that I could refer to! That thought is what has prompted me to share with you everything I have learned through these years, in a practical way.
This blog is for everybody. I don't say that lightly. It's my hope that everyone who wants to improve their lives will feel included. You might be wanting to make small changes in your habits or wishing for big dreams such as a change of profession or starting a business. Whatever the reason you are here, I hope that you will find something useful that will propel you forward on your journey.
How does this work?
This is a blog where you will work with laser focus on ONE theme a month and truly give yourself the time and space you deserve, so you can design a path that you are confident will work for you. It is my hope that, by breaking things down into smaller steps, the process will seem less overwhelming. In these blog posts, I will lay the foundation for you. I have thought through what things would be most useful, created a structure, and planned themes for each month for us to focus on. This will help you look at your life from a fresh perspective, and decide what it is that you desire to work on the most.
Each month has a goal related to its theme. Each week, we will break that big goal into smaller ones and aim to achieve that small goal. At the end of the month, you will create your own playbook that will help you make a lasting change or improvement. You will add a new area of focus to this playbook each month.
You will also get support available on this website, such as helpful tips and valuable resources. I will also share some quotes, books, and other blog posts relevant to our topics. Of course you can engage my coaching services should you desire deeper work at any time. Transformations are not easy but they are so worth it!
What’s the ONE thing you should take away?
There are many priorities, distractions, and life that will constantly compete for your attention. But if you are not 100% present and in love with your life right now, you might feel like you need a change. The ONE thing you should take away from this blog is I am here providing support that will enable you to do your best and more - I am in your corner.
You will get to work on your dreams and realize them. Notice I used the phrase "get to" and not "have to"? I hope it makes a difference to you just like it did for me when my coach first introduced me to it. "Get to" brings out joy, excitement, choice, and not helplessness, compulsion, and deprivation like "have to" does. Quick, try this: When you think of something you should do or have to do, instead use the phrase "get to" and see how you feel. Say a sentence with "should" in it, e.g., "I should eat healthy." And now replace it with "I get to eat healthy." How did that feel? OK, try this one. "I should have dreams." Now try "I get to have dreams." And now "I should be happy" and "I get to be happy." Did you smile just a little bit? Or had a full ear-to-ear grin? What else can you think of? What else do you get to do or be?
We are equal partners in this endeavor. I support and share, and you go out there and achieve. Sounds simple, doesn't it? ;) But I will tell you from personal experience and that of my clients, it is so worth it.
What will you commit to?
So this what I ask of you: keep an open mind, be curious about what's in here, what's coming next, give yourself the permission to commit to putting your dreams front and center. Commit to working on the goals of the month and week, experiment with what works best for you in your particular situation, test drive potential solutions, learn from your failures and be ok with failing - give yourself the permission to be ok with failing, and take the first step. You will be ahead of all those who are sitting on the couch doing nothing about their dreams.
